Star Publish Releases the Voice of a Silenced Child
Star Publish LLC announces the release of Emily: Out of My Mother’s Darkness, by Janie Lancaster. This is Lancaster’s second book and is autobiographical fiction. Her first book, Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale, a middle grade novel, has been not only well received in libraries and schools, but syndicated in newspapers nationwide as well.
In Emily: Out of My Mother’s Darkness, Lancaster draws on some personal traumatic events and creates an enchanting story that not only entertains, but shows how to turn a person’s scars into stars. The reader will easily be able to relate to the fear and anxieties Emily feels as she dares to open a forbidden cedar chest, unlocks a Chinese box and discovers dark secrets. Emily must find a way to escape from the darkness her mother has created in her world.
Lancaster lives in the Southern California area and she is available to speak to groups on Opening the Mind Through Creative Writing. Therapeutic writing for troubled teens will be one of her favored topics.
Emily: Out of My Mother’s Darkness is available in online bookstores and at brick-and-mortar bookstores across the country. If not in stock, it can be easily ordered by asking the store manager. Visit the author’s website at www.janielancaster.com.

Star Publish Gives Voice to a “Silenced Child”
Star Publish LLC has signed a contract with Janie Lancaster, author of Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale, to publish her second book Emily/Out of My Mother’s Darkness.
The focus of Janie’s new book deals with emotional torment. It shows the effects that harsh words and attitudes can have on a child. Most fictional books have their basis on something in real life, which is the case for Emily/Out of My Mother’s Darkness. Ms. Lancaster describes her story as “autobiographical fiction.” She says: “It was a hypergraphic, therapeutic writing journey, a journey that helped me to understand my dark past and deepen my identity.” Readers will find her book very powerful, crushing, then inspiring - all beautiful. Star Publish is honored to have her book join their list.
The tale takes you on a journey with Emily on a desperate search for her missing father.
She opens a forbidden cedar chest, where she encounters fancy clothes, an embroidered tablecloth, glittering jewelry and a Chinese box. Upon unlocking the box, she discovers her mother’s darkest secrets. She invites readers to share in her struggle to climb out of her mother’s darkness.
Lancaster’s first book has been syndicated in several newspapers across the country, as well as being available at both online and brick-and-mortar bookstores. She plans to share her experiences of the therapy she received while writing Emily/Out of My Mother’s Darkness by giving lectures and teaching seminars. Therapeutic writing for troubled teens will be one of her favored topics. If you would like to schedule an appearance with her, you can contact Ms. Lancaster at: janielbl@aol.com or call at: 760-743-7572

Another new press release: A Flight of Greed and Glory
A Flight of Greed and Glory Press Release
In today’s world, children are taught that anything is possible. A generation or two ago the dream was often to be a fireman, a policeman or a cowboy. Today’s children reach much farther, to being a rocket scientist, an astronaut—or even president of the United States of America.
Dr. Marjorie Vego Krausz and Dr. Toni Hood have teamed up to explore the universe—and beyond—in their new young adult novel, A Flight of Greed and Glory: DECODERs’ First Adventure. Both Dr. Vego Krausz and Dr. Hood have more than 30 years’ experience each, working as counselors and educators, so writing a book for young adults was a natural outgrowth for their expertise of working with children and families.
In A Flight of Greed and Glory, a multicultural group of young people spend a summer at a space camp. They soon form a tight bond and discover, quite by accident, a plot by the astronauts who are there for training. Their quest for solving the problems gets them into a bit of trouble, lands them behind locked doors, and they have to figure out how to expose the guilty person without endangering their lives, or that of the other people at the camp.
In the process, they develop a way of problem solving that will help young readers apply their strategies to common occurrences in the daily problems of life, from bullying to forming trustworthy friendships and relationships.
A Flight of Greed and Glory provides plenty of mystery, intrigue and adventure, while at the same time teaching some valuable lessons.
A Flight of Greed and Glory has just been released by Star Publish LLC. You can read an excerpt as well as get more information on both the book and the authors at http://starpublishllc.com by clicking on “Star Book Catalog.”

Press release of new young adult book: War Star Rising!
War Star Rising! Press Release
Not every father takes his son to Belize for an 8th grade graduation gift, but the dad who is known as “Zoo Doc” is not your typical father. The plan was to take them to Hawaii, but when someone suggested they go to Belize instead, Zoo Doc took up the challenge and they soon ended up touring Mayan sites and studying their ancient myths and practices.
Upon completing extensive research, both in Belize and after they returned home to California, Zoo Doc set out to write the story of the Mayan people. While there were many that could not be included, the primary one that was the basis of his book, War Star Rising!, was the Legend of Toucan Moon. The book spins a tale of adventure, suspense, and even romance. Some of the tale, although set many centuries ago, has a feel of science fiction throughout. Zoo Doc's love of animals is included in the book, as they lead the characters from one adventure to another one.
The first format the story was released in was as an award-winning script suitable for drama groups, but Zoo Doc wanted to reach a larger audience, especially among younger readers. The book was then written for middle-school level readers. War Star Rising! has just been released by Star Publish LLC, and it is available at most online bookstores and will soon appear in bookstores across the US.
On a personal note, Zoo Doc and his wife lost their daughter at an age when her life should have just been beginning. The book was written with her in mind, and it is dedicated to her.
Experts about Belize and the Mayan people are singing high praise for War Star Rising! Lan Sluder, Belize resident and Editor/Publisher of Belize First Magazine (www.belizefirst.com) and a Belize Travel Writer, says: “War Star Rising! is fast-paced, well-researched and full of authentic detail. This is a ripping tale of adventure and romance...and a roaring good read. It recreates the time long, long ago when the Maya ruled MesoAmerica. ZooDoc's book probes the mysteries and romance of this exotic, yet somehow familiar, culture. If you've ever dreamed of jaguars and jungle, if you've ever wanted to travel back in time to the Land of the Maya, if you have a speck of romance in your soul, this will be a book you simply can't put down…a must read! Bravo, ZooDoc.”
In today’s troubled economics, any youngster—no matter how old they are—can escape to a wonderful enchanting world of yesteryears at the cost of just $15.95. Buen viaje!

What They are Saying About Storm
Below are a couple of review for Storm.
"What a breath of fresh air this book is! In an age when “God” has become a four letter word, and in a contemporary society that by and large considers all things Biblical to be babble, author Joyce Anthony brings us home to all things spiritual and meaningful with this charming and insightful story. Her boldness of faith is evident throughout and admirable. Also impressive as I read “Storm” was her depth of understanding of human nature, psychology and spiritual condition.
As a literary work “Storm” is well crafted; Anthony is definitely a gifted writer who can capture you and transport you into the sights, sounds, smells, feelings and aura of a different world and make you feel as if you really know the characters involved. I don’t want to spoil the fun for potential readers, so I will not divulge the plot. However, I will tease you with this: it is the greatest true story ever re-told before it comes true.
Plan on a few hours of uninterrupted trance-like reading, you won’t want to do anything else except keep turning the pages once you’ve started. Get ready to examine yourself, our society, and our world as it relates to its’ creator. There are many sad truths in this book. But in the end, the truth will set you free."

This was one incredible read. From the first words, I knew I was in for a literary treat. After reading the first chapter, I knew I was in for a life changing experience. Rarely does a book come along that speaks to me so clearly, so beautifully and I was blown away by the beauty of Storm.
Part parable, part fantasy, party mystery, part spiritual quest, Storm is unlike anything you have read or will read. Ever. I can’t even come close to describing the beauty and depth of this novel, the sheer gorgeousness of it. I am still haunted by this novel, thinking of it, dreaming of it. You will find yourself thinking of this book well after you have turned the last page.
What I love most about this book is the story. It’s so simple yet it manages to touch on every emotion you can name. I laughed and cried while reading this novel. It’s written with such a depth that it’s hard to believe this is Anthony’s first novel; she writes with a maturity of a seasoned writer and the beauty of her words is breathtaking.
Even though there is a spiritual message in this book, it doesn’t hit you over the head. Storm makes you think and it makes you feel and that is the true power of a book. It’s been a long time since I’ve been so affected by a novel, so moved by words I’ve read.
This is one of the best books I have ever had the pleasure to read. I can’t get Storm or those amethyst eyes out of my head and I don’t think I’ll ever want to. Storm helps reshape how you look at the world, how you look at others and, perhaps most importantly, how you look at yourself.
Storm is an enchanting work that I will read again and again for years to come.

Sam the lighthouse keeper names the baby Storm, because he finds the child cast up on the rocks in a great ocean storm's aftermath. Storm lives on the island, alone with his foster father, until Sam's death. Then, at 33, Storm takes the supply boat to the mainland for the first time. He knows in his heart, as well as from Sam's last words, that he has a destiny to fulfill. But he has no idea what that destiny may be, what he needs to do, or where he needs to go, in order to fulfill it. I can best describe Joyce Anthony's first book as a modern-day Pilgrim's Progress, although this allegory takes the form of a page-turning contemporary novel. Storm, the innocent in a world he doesn't know - the stranger in a strange land - struggles with questions and feelings familiar to all humans. His story ends as it inevitably must, but until its final scene the reader can't be sure about what will happen despite Anthony's foreshadowing. The Vietnam veteran's chapter left me blinking back tears. If this book doesn't move your heart, I don't know what possibly could. http://www.geocities.com/nina_osier/

Why Should You Read Storm?
I had to think long and hard to come up with an answer to this question. Storm won't help you get rich, publish a book, find the love of your life, or any of those other things so many seek to figure out. So why should you take the time to buy and read it?
Storm will open up your mind and and your heart. It will touch your emotions deeply--make you laugh, cry--and yes, maybe even make you angry. It will enable you to look around you with a new understanding of the world and those in it. Before you turn the last page, you will have experienced at least one "WOW" moment that will get you thinking in a way you may never have before.
We all can use greater love, understanding and hope in our lives and I firmly believe that Storm will add at least one of these, if not all, to the lives of all who read it.

The Story Behind Storm
The seed for Storm was planted in my mind way back in the 70s--although I didn't realize the significance at the time. I was in the back seat of a car and we had stopped at a red light. A man standing on the curb captured my attention and when I looked at him, our eyes actually locked and I felt this incredible energy. The light turned green and I asked if anyone else had noticed him. Nobody did.
Over the years, his face would enter my mind at seemingly random moments and I begin to question: Who was this man? What was that energy I felt? What if he.....well, that would give the plot away :-)
Life went on and I met many people. As I got older and out into the world, I noticed how there were people the rest of society scorned. People I would sit and talk with, hold intelligent conversations with, yet they were alone because it seemed the rest of the world looked down on them. I wanted to do something to make the world realize these were people, wonderful people.
Skip ahead to a writing group I joined. The subject of what fascinated us as children came up and I mentioned how I would look down the empty railway tracks as a kid and wonder where they went. I'd daydream about just following them to see where they led. One of the girls in the group asked me: So, what is at the end of the tracks?
Everything fell into place with that one question. My mind became filled with pictures of those I believed society had forgotten, they wanted to tell their stories. The picture of those eyes meeting mine--that man--filled my dreams. He knew what was at the of the tracks and wanted me to find out.
I wrote. The result of all these seemingly random encounters, brief moments in my daily existence, is within the pages of Storm. I found the end of the railroad tracks--and I must say it was well worth the trip.
